Blue Update Screen

The classic blue "Working on updates" screen with spinning dots and a slow percentage.

Dark Update Screen

The newer black update screen. "This will take a while." It really will.

Progress Bar Update

A minimal installer with a progress bar and a time estimate that never quite runs out.

Crash Screen

"Your device ran into a problem." A blue error screen with a sad face and a stop code.

Broken Screen

Realistic cracked glass. Click anywhere to add another crack.

Hacker Typer

Mash any key and pro-level code pours out. Secret keys trigger ACCESS GRANTED.

TV Static

Old-school analog TV snow, with optional hiss and a NO SIGNAL message.

How to pull off the prank

Open a prank screen on their computer and click Full screen in the corner (or press F on the update and crash screens).
Leave the mouse alone. After a couple of seconds the button and the cursor disappear.
To end it, press Esc. Nothing was actually installed, broken or changed.

Secret controls

Update and crash screens: the percentage creeps up by itself and sometimes gets stuck. ↑ and ↓ nudge it.
Broken screen: click anywhere to add another crack. C clears the glass, B switches to a black background.
Hacker typer: mash any key (or tap) to type. Press Alt three times for ACCESS GRANTED, Caps Lock three times for ACCESS DENIED.
TV static: S turns the hiss on or off, N shows NO SIGNAL.
